Hewlett Packard (HP) are planning a major comeback in the tablet market. After there massive public failure of the now cancelled TouchPad, HP is apparently looking to use Google’s Android operating system.

The HP Touchpad wasn’t actually a bad tablet when it launched in 2011. It had great reviews and was starting to build momentum but was ditched along with webOS just three months after it launch. They were subsidizing huge discounts via retailers on the last months of trade and some would say this hurt the brand. They were selling for the ridiculous price of just £89 and probably got more headlines for doing this than any other marketing they were doing back then.

Unfortunately for them, they didn’t realise that the business model is to make money on the back-end through selling music, games and apps. The model isn’t to try to make money on tablet sales.

Simply building a new tablet that powers android probably isn’t enough for HP to differentiate themselves from other manufacturers. If you go onto eBay, you can see a lot of other tablets for sale that also power android that are being sold so low.

I set up Hot Deals Monster because I was frustrated with the lack of deals specifically targeted to Men. I wasn't interested in cheap nappies or 10p off my next box of cornflakes. I wanted real, interesting deals that would genuinely help and save money for the male consumer.
