The latest Nokia Lumia 720 has just been announced at MWC 2013. The 720 is basically a mid-range Windows 8 smartphone with a slightly better than average camera. It’s a lot slimmer and smaller than its bigger brother, the Nokia Lumia 920 and a lot cheaper.

Here’s a quick review: The specs are relatively straightforward with a Qualcomm SnapDragon S4 chipset with a 1GHz dual-core processor, a typical 4.3in display with a standard 800×480 resolution, Gorilla Glass 2 to protect the touchscreen, Nokia’s latest Clearblack technology for darker blacks and better contrast (a method to reduce reflections on the screen and improve visual image quality) and a measuring slighter small than the 920 at 127.9mm high and 67.5mm wide and weighs just 128g. On the negative side, it only has 512MB of RAM which means switching between apps might be a bit slow when comparing it to the competition.

The 2,000mAh battery is the same size as the Lumia 820 which is still a decent size, but the score was barley mediocre in the battery test. However, it should do OK since it’s rocking a much smaller display and lower clock speed.

At this congress, Nokia have been making a lot of noise about their cameras. The 720 has a 6.7-megapixel rating which doesn’t sound great (where we need to be careful with Pixel Counts, just take a look at the new flagship HTC One for proof). What is good, is the F1.9 aperture. believe it or not, this is actually better than the 920 and the HTC One, so full marks to Nokia for that.

It has a  front-facing camera with a HD resolution of 1,280×960 and for group portraits you can get  F2.4. This means that the you can get a wider than usual angle if you’re used to taking lots of pics of the family.

Nokia Lumia’s are available from Carphone Warehouse, Phones4U and Dialaphone.

I set up Hot Deals Monster because I was frustrated with the lack of deals specifically targeted to Men. I wasn't interested in cheap nappies or 10p off my next box of cornflakes. I wanted real, interesting deals that would genuinely help and save money for the male consumer.
