Tesco Vs Netflix

Next time you’re roaming down the isles of Tesco (if you shop there that is) and you’re just about to pick up a pack of Frosties, don’t forget to select your next streaming movie and then go to the checkout.

It seems as though Tesco isn’t happy to sell you groceries, insurance, credit cards and every consumable under the sun. They now want to provide you with a streaming service (free at the moment) if you’re a clubcard holder.

Similar to the likes of Netflix and Lovefilm, Tesco will offer you television shows on-demand and movies streamed directly to your computer or tablet. From my understanding, there is a slight catch though. You need to rack up enough points buying fuel and groceries before you qualify.

After a massive investment into Blinkbox last year that claims it will offer “thousands of movies and TV shows” with “no schedule, no fees and no fuss”. This isn’t really a massive gamble, rather a brand extension.

At the moment, lucky Tesco employees are trialing the new service and it looks like it will be limited to computers initially. However, whether they extend it to an Apple app or Android app is anyone’s guess.

I set up Hot Deals Monster because I was frustrated with the lack of deals specifically targeted to Men. I wasn't interested in cheap nappies or 10p off my next box of cornflakes. I wanted real, interesting deals that would genuinely help and save money for the male consumer.
