Samsung and Apple Are Leading The Smartphone Market

Being a smart phone manufacturer and brand can be a hard and cruel sometimes. Just ask Blackberry and Nokia.

So it came to no surprise to learn that both Samsung and Apple sales account for more than half of the smart phone  market share in the final three months of 2012, according to figures from the research firm Gartner. “There is no manufacturer that can firmly lay claim to the number three spot in global smart phone sales,” Anshul Gupta, an analyst at Gartner, said.

It is estimated that they both command more than 52% market share, where Apple’s sales stood at 43.5 million and Samsung sees it’s sales rising to a whopping 64.5 million units in the quarter.

Gartner also said:

“After two consecutive quarter of decline in mobile phone sales, demand has improved in both mature and emerging markets as sales increased sequentially,” said Anshul Gupta, principal research analyst at Gartner. “In China, sales of mobile phones grew driven by sales of smart phones, while demand of feature phones remained weak. In mature markets, we finally saw replacement sales pick up with the launch of new devices in the quarter.”

So how easy will it be for other smart phone manufacturers to break up this party. pretty difficult I would say. To be fair, after all the innovation has been mimicked and copied to death, there’s not a massive difference between the phones these days. Just take a look at our mobile phone reviews to see. Companies also have to spend what is close to billions to produce new handset designs as well as having deep pockets for any ensuing litigation.

I set up Hot Deals Monster because I was frustrated with the lack of deals specifically targeted to Men. I wasn't interested in cheap nappies or 10p off my next box of cornflakes. I wanted real, interesting deals that would genuinely help and save money for the male consumer.
