No Fanfare For 4G – Let The Auctions Begin!

| January 24, 2013 | Reply

So, the auction for 4G licenses are now underway and you can literally hear the government rubbing their hands with glee with expectation of several ££ flooding their coffers very soon. In fact, it’s estimated that the sale of these licenses will raise approximately £3bn and £5bn, Nice!

Unusually, there wasn’t a big fanfare this time round as in previous auctions (I suppose there’s

more important things to discuss in the news).

So what does this all mean and why should you even care? Well, if you’re a tech hound like me, you’ll be exited at the prospect of a faster network to connect your mobile devices to as well as your broadband at home, yippee!!

Companies such as BT, MLL Telecom and PCCW are in the running to grab these new licenses, as well as the usual mobile networks. In fact, I believe EE has already been awarded one of these and have been  introducing a £31 plan with a 500MB cap and a handset. They’ll also be offering a Sim-only plan that will be priced around £46.

I’m guessing prices will be a little on the steep side to begin with and will probably bak off later on in the year as competition bites!

I set up Hot Deals Monster because I was frustrated with the lack of deals specifically targeted to Men. I wasn't interested in cheap nappies or 10p off my next box of cornflakes. I wanted real, interesting deals that would genuinely help and save money for the male consumer.
