New Silver Youview Box From Humax Hopes To Shine

| February 14, 2013 | Reply

Humax is fast becoming the go to unit for Freeview boxes in the UK. They’ve now brought out their latest silver box of goodies called the DTR-T1010 which replaces the very popular DTR-T1000. Reports suggest that there’s very little change under the hood and just a slight cosmetic overhaul is all Humax have done here.

The gubbings inside both units are exactlty the same with the larger 1TB unit costing £330 and its younger brother 500GB model costing £300. The price on the old model T1000 has decreased in price over the summer at costs just £300 for the 1TB model and £250 for the 500GB. My advice, get your hands on the older model since the price will probably decrease even further, even though there’s very little difference between both old and new models.

Apparently, the DTR-T1010 is now selling in John Lewis with other high street stores looking to get stock later this month (February).

Recent figures show it has around 230,000 subscribers, and TalkTalk is reportedly seeing more than 10,000 new sign-ups every week.

Though Youview is a much cheaper service than Sky and Virgin, you haven’t really got as much choice. However, it’s probably unfair to compare the services since Youview isn’t actually subscription based. As soon as you’ve purchased your box, there’s no further subscription payments to make. Unlike Virgin or Sky.

I set up Hot Deals Monster because I was frustrated with the lack of deals specifically targeted to Men. I wasn't interested in cheap nappies or 10p off my next box of cornflakes. I wanted real, interesting deals that would genuinely help and save money for the male consumer.
