Is The iPad Mini Killing The iPad?

Now, that may seem like a really strange title, but the latest figures suggest that the iPad Mini and a whole stable of other smaller tablets are in effect stealing market share away from sales of the ever popular iPad.

Citi analyst Glen Yeung reckons that sales of Apple’s flagship iPad will continue to fall as smaller tablets – including the iPad Mini – increasingly kill the iPad’s market share.

There was a poll of 50 Apple stores conducted by Citi that found there were indeed plenty of iPad 4 on the shelf, but found limited stock of the  iPad Mini.

some way in explaining this unusual phenomena. However, I think Apple would rather you bought an Apple product than one of its competitors.

Either way, this is probably proof that the smaller tablets are becoming increasingly popular among consumers and they’re probably choosing a smaller slimmer model based on price rather than overall specs. I think it was wise for Apple to bring out a smaller model and the fact that they did it so soon after the release of the iPad might be down their own in-house market research. Who knows?

It would be interesting to find out the numbers from Samsung regarding their product range. Are people purchasing the smaller Galaxy Tab 7.0 over the really popular Galaxy Tab 8.9 and Galaxy Tab 10.1 models. Either way, both manufacturers are still growing their market share in the smart phone battle and I can see the both companies stretching ahead in the tablet battle too!

I set up Hot Deals Monster because I was frustrated with the lack of deals specifically targeted to Men. I wasn't interested in cheap nappies or 10p off my next box of cornflakes. I wanted real, interesting deals that would genuinely help and save money for the male consumer.
